Beer Review: Anubis Porter

Tonight I am mostly drinking something dark, heavy and vaguely related to the micro-brewery that I keep banging on about. It's another warm-ish night and I feel like a beer. Willow has very kindly collected one from the kitchen so that I didn't even have to stand up. It's Anubis Porter from the Raw Brewing Company. I confess that I am rather looking forward to it.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel

I finally transferred the beer from the bucket to the barrel. It is a tale of woe that will make ye glad ye be not a pirate! Or... a brewer, or something. Anyway, yes, the saga continues and the amounts of it I got in mouth (attempting to get it to syphon into the barrel) suggest that the extended bucket brewing haven't made it too evil or undrinkable.

As ever, continue if you wish to know more.

Beer Review: Black Beauty

Hoka hey it's beer review day! And, predictably, it's another stout. I do seem to be having a lot of those. Well, that and amber ale. Must be something in the water. Anyway, it's the next in the local stable that I have found and it's the one I've looked forward to the most since buying them: Black Beauty, a milk stout from Nutbrook Breweries, so let's get on and record my thoughts on it!

It's an out-of-focus effort from my camera, I know, but the best shot was taken when Willow was in frame and she was unimpressed with this fact! I just think it's come to a rather sad moment when I'm taking pictures with my camera of the beer I'm drinking in order to review it here. *sigh*

Roll out the Barrel

It's been a while since my first batch of beer and, today, my car's turbo went 'pop' and so I was... delayed getting home. Also, stress for getting to work tomorrow. Hopefully car will be fixed in time for fun and shenanigans on Wednesday evening (after work) in seeing the Pet Shop Boys.

Much pootling makes berry bad beer barrel badly.

Beer Review: Pride of Pendle

The last one I had from this brewery was Black Cat (here) long ago and so I'll admit that I was slow to take this up despite finding it very much on offer. But it is that time again when beers are had and then I dissect them in excruciating detail. Tonight we are having the joy of Pride of Pendle for company from Moorhouse's and it looks a little like this:

Burping Beer

Well, it's four days in and the Berry Bad Beer is very much under steam. If you would like some more detail on this and the mead that I bought (that is green) then you are welcome to read on. Otherwise, the page break is there to give you the chance to bail out now.

Someday I hope to find a place where these grow locally, we had such a place (by the railway bridge) where we used to live but nothing here yet. I mean, I can go to town (literally) more now, but there's something about trees and woodland that I miss. No doubt we'll find something as we live here.

B- B- B- Brewing

Aha, yes, marking is now finished for the national boards (I still have some others to do for work, but I should have enough time coming up) and there is free time once more. So, that means more beer reviews that I can actually do and get posted. It means being able to check out the local micro-brewery again and it means that it is time for the brewing adventures to begin once more!

Beer Review: Up and Under

It's an evening of beer. One may even call it beer o'clock in the household. Well, one might, one might not. I'm calling it time for beer because I like long sentences. Tonight it is the turn of another from the Shepherd Neame stable: Up and Under, which looks to be made for rugby fans. No, really.

I'm no rugby fan, but I likes my ale and I seem to enjoy it being of a Kentish pedigree so...

Beer Review: Lion

It's another beer from somewhere outside the UK (Sri Lanka apparently) and it's another stout. I appear to be having a lot of stout lately. Oh, right, sorry, better get on and review the damn' thing. It's Lion Stout from  Lion Breweries and I'm rather tired, so this is likely to be short!
